Air America's Roseanne Barr Wants 1968 Riots Repeated In Denver

ROSIE THE RADICAL

Roseanne Barr Pushes For '68 Repeat In Denver

Days after Rush Limbaugh was slammed by Denver- area media after supposedly (but not actually) calling for riots during the upcoming Democrat National Convention in Colorado, Air America libtalker and actress Roseanne Barr has issued her own call for a repeat of Chicago's 1968 violence.

Barr said she is so committed to repeating the events of 1968 that she's even willing to put up her own money to ensure it comes to pass.

Will Denver's reporters erupt with the same level of outrage that has been reserved for Rush over the past week? Will Senator Salazar (D-CO) issue an additional "reprimand" request against Air America Radio, as he did with Clear Channel last week? Will Denver TV stations take polls to gauge public response?

On yesterday's American Afternoon program (the former Randi Rhodes Show), Barr said this:

BARR (28 April 2008 Hour Two Segment Two): But you know what, I think I am old and I’m okay with being a baby boomer being older and everything like that. 'Cause I think one really good thing about it, we were just talking about it, is that I am over the BS. And I just want to identify solutions and then get 'em done. And I want to ah you know the people who are listening, I want to remind them or encourage them or wake them up to say you know what, you have so much more power then you think you have.

I mean I think somebody’s profiting by keeping us all divided and making us feel like oh my God we don’t even know what to believe what we’re reading what’s true. But you know, we have a lot of power and there is a Democratic Convention in Denver in just a short time and we should a bunch of us go there and repeat the Democratic Convention from Chicago. Like, let’s just cause a bunch of trouble. Let's wrest back our government from what, six or seven you know guys like McCain and Romney and Bush from the top. Let’s just go take it. It’s ours. Nobody gives it to you, you just go take it. Let’s meet in Denver and let’s do it.

[...]

BARR: Also try talking to other people plain and simple. Try like, they got they have us so isolated, that it’s us and our viewing screen like 1984. I mean talk to other living people because they all have the very same concerns as you do.

And then let’s get on a bus, whatever let’s meet up in Denver. I mean seriously, I’m willing to do it. I’ll even put some of my own money into it because I’m like committed. I see how it easy it is for ah the woman in particularly of my generation to go take it all. Take it all, it’s ours anyway.

And here's a clip of the exchange, which features both excepts transcribed above:

How will the media deal with this new development? Will they address Barr's comments or pretend this didn't simply happen?

As for Rosie, will she join the fellow- travelling radicals behind Recreate '68?

  • Limbaugh has 13 million listeners a day, Roseanne had maybe 13.

So, it's a little hard to get worked up over--that and the people she criticized (Romney, Bush)will be in Minnesota, not Colorado--she's an idiot.

  • Maybe she'll sing the national anthem again and really piss some people off.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 30 April, 2008 00:52

  • You should be worked up over the fact that this type of hate speech will be overlooked as long as it is espoused by a loony liberal. The media has chosen sides and this news will be buried.

  • What else would you expect from someone who DESTROYED the Star Spangled Banner 18 years ago and did it in such a grotesque way?!

And what has Roseanne Barf done recently that merits anything?

    (crickets chirping)

    I THOUGHT SO!

  • Roseanne is just showing us what a disconnected blowhard that profits from the very divisiveness she says she despises is. The woman would not know the truth if it fell out of the sky onto her face and wiggled.

  • Barr is looking for publicity, AAR is looking for publicity, they lost their #1 host. Just like Rush seekingh publicity with "operation gayos", Barr obviously said something to get picked up in the blog-o-sphere and maybe the media. I heard 5 minutes of her on the radio and changed the station so fast I ended up on my local wing-nut frequency, end result, the I-pod was turned on and the radio OFF. AAR is INSANE for not putting Sam Sedar on in the afternoon slot, and instead going with washed up celebrities. AWFUL

  • wow. just wow. while i'm not a listener or supporter of Air America, after reading the excerpts there, it is safe to say that you are a bold-face liar. not once did she mention riot, rampage, anarchy, chaos, or anything to that effect. she was speaking figuratively and meant that the democrats would cause trouble POLITICALLY for republicans, and take the government back from them. i honestly cannot believe that you even had the courage to post such lies. you sir, are a complete moron.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 30 April, 2008 10:11

  • Brian,

While we're giving AirAmerica's weak programming some light, can you also note that Johnny Argent thinks that Sen. McCain's war record is overstated? On Monday Mr. Agent suggested that if you fly 800 MPH and drop bombs, you shouldn't be surprised that you might end up in a prison.

  • Hey Anonymous, have you not heard about the 1968 Democrat Convention in Chicago. There was a RIOT!!! She didn't use the word riot but if she says to do the same thing as 1968 then she is by implication calling for a riot. You are more of a moron than anyone else here.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 30 April, 2008 11:38

  • Speaking of morons - you are aware, are you not, that the trouble in 1968 was figurative. Literal buidlings were burned. Literal cops were injured, and literal anarchists eventually got their literal behinds kicked up between their literal shoulders.

  • I like how you can "read" Rosanne's mind and state that "she was speaking figuratively". This is a common liberal trick and it seems that only liberals have this unique talent.

While she did not use the word riots she did specifically say "we should a bunch of us go there and repeat the Democratic Convention from Chicago. Like, let’s just cause a bunch of trouble.

Which "bunch of trouble" is she suggesting? Riots? Throwing bags of excrement at police?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 30 April, 2008 14:34

  • This is totally typical of the libs on the left...they make completely irrational statements, demonstrating their lack of intelligence and then call for VIOLENCE to get their "way".

Maybe we, Conservatives, should follow their example and "take back" America from those who hate it so...I would be all to happy to throw the first punch at Rosanne myself!

  • How desperate is Air America to have this idiot on the air???!!? Most of what she said is completely incoherent.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 30 April, 2008 14:48

  • "...we should a bunch of us go there and repeat the Democratic Convention from Chicago"- Roseanne Barr

I remember 1968. That statement sort of means "let's riot" to me...

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 30 April, 2008 15:39

  • You people are insane. This election is already over, that socialist Senator won, haven't you heard?

No seriously, the only thing left to 'choose' is whether on January 21st 2007 the Republican Party might have a prayer of turning back to the right, or McCain will be pres. What we get from the pres will be exactly the same with any of the three. They're all going to do the exact same things- increase social programs, raise taxes, ban guns, appoint socialist judges, kill anybody successfully denouncing them. They ALL want to repeal the Constitution. Hell, Hillary is the lesser evil, if you want somebody to vote for.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 30 April, 2008 17:11

  • You fools (with the exception of MOP) are simply proving with your rantings that you simply desire "celebrity" personalities that parrot your radical extremist viewpoints, rather than good, solid, substantive talk radio.

MOP is the ONLY one who has seized on the main idea...that Roseanne is TRAGIC as a radio talk show host, and who ever heard of needing to bring your significant other with you to the mic, as a co-host (and interpreter)?

THIS is an example of the feminism she likes to prattle on about?

AAR actually had a chance for once to rescue its few remaining listeners from an increasingly alcohol-psychotic and bought-and-paid-for Obama shill in the person of Randi Rhodes, and upgrade their pathetically weak lineup with Seder, their favorite whipping boy, and they blew it, for every single "entertaining" sub they've brought on has failed miserably.

Give a clown like Mark Green a horse and he's sure to ride it to hell....

Why do you people work with your subjective opinions, based on failed ideologies, when the facts of the matter are pathetic enough?

Errr, you want to run that through your thesaurus one more time?

  • This washed up old cow will do anything to get noticed. She needs to crawl back to the "Where are they now file ?" Although, I will be more than willing to buy the skank a bus ticket to Denver. She'll be really helpful to the Dem's cause. Moooo

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 30 April, 2008 21:05

  • The REAL problem is that you people let the media anoint McCain as the GOP nominee. You had a couple of good options in Romney and Thompson. Thompson didn't really get serious and Romney got hurt because of Huckabee bring religion into it. Out of all of the Romney was probably the best but you let him get away. Now you are saddled with McCain who clearly is NOT a conservative. The only good that can come if McCain wins is if he has Romney as VP since McCain knows NOTHING about the economy. Next time vote with your heads and don't let the media vote for you.

  • Benson-hurst?

Not my fault your mammaleh didn't school you in Basic English Concepts any better than she failed at cluing you in on basic morals, decency, and civil responsibility...

We should pay FOREVER for her failings, and yours?

Anita, Fred! was a Fraud! from day one (check out his campaign's poignant sign-off to his followers at www.imwithfred.com for confirmation), and, can you imagine the blowback Romney would have encountered with the Feds' raid on the FLDS community in Eldorado?

The Republican side has no one qualified to nominate as president right now, either, and no one electable waiting in the wings.

The inconsistencies on illegals MUST be fixed first. Any candidate who turns this trick wins the economy and security by default.

  • Hashfanatic:

My basic English training taught me to make cohesive arguments with well thought out structured points.

I avoid convulted meandering comments that go from "Mop"
    to "celebrities"
    to "talk radio"
    to "Barr"
    to "your significant other"
    to "feminism"
    to "AAR"
    to "Rhodes"
    to "Seder"
    to "Green"
    to "subjective opinions"
to "the facts of the matter".

Bottom line? Barr should be held accountable for her demand for riots in Denver.
    .

By Blogger The Benson Report, at 03 May, 2008 01:03

  • Sure you do, Benson-hurst.

If you agree that Rush Limbaugh should be held to account for his subversive, rabble-rousing on-air rhetoric and be restricted from the airwaves, I'd be happy to agree that Barr should be held to the same standard of justice.

    It's all a win-win to me!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 04 May, 2008 10:09

  • Yes, I do agree that Rush Limbaugh should be held to account for his on-air rhetoric. And so do the other 14 million listeners, advertisers and 600 stations. He is held accountable and that is why is so successful.

Roseanne Barr is not held accountable and that is why so many people resent her and don't listen to what she says. That is why she has no advertisers. That is why she has no radio stations, other than a temporary gig as an AAR fill-in.
