Media Matters Admits Rush Didn't Make Key Racist Remarks

NOW THEY TELL US

Damage Done, Frisch Now Says Key Racist Remarks Not Made

*** EXCLUSIVE TO THE RADIO EQUALIZER ***
*** CAUGHT ON TAPE ***

With Operation Smear Rush now (largely) complete and the damage done, "progressive" sleazemeisters are apparently ready to come clean with the truth: Limbaugh never made two key racist statements.

Those alleged remarks, which were never sourced despite being repeated on MSNBC, CNN, in many newspapers and evening newscasts, ultimately cost Rush an opportunity to bid on the NFL's St Louis Rams.

And yet, despite the candid admission by Karl Frisch (right image, right side) of Media Matters during today's Stephanie Miller Show that no evidence could be found to support the claims, his organization's website appears silent on the matter.

In fact, when there was an opportunity to address the point here, his group said nothing, focusing instead on what it calls 28 "racially-charged" comments that weren't at issue during the Rams flap.

Here's Frisch on the air today:

MILLER (3:36): He (Limbaugh) made a big deal out of you know that people had gotten those two quotes about what was it, slavery and James Earl Ray? (Miller laughing) And so those two out of a lifetime of documented racist comments he didn’t say.

KARL FRISCH: You know, in fairness to Rush, those two out of literally dozens of racist things were not necessarily accurate. We were never able to find them. We’ve had people call us trying to find it. We don’t know where they came from. They could just be Internet apparitions. But you know, that being said, anyone who wants to know how racist he is, we’re happy to give them other examples.

MILLER: In fact we always send people to you guys because you guys are obviously the most reputable around, in terms of you always make sure everything’s sourced. So, if it is on there you know it’s true. So, you know but hilarious isn’t it how Rush is whining about this?

Here, Media Matters had another opportunity to set the record straight, but failed to do so:

And of course Limbaugh's still steamed about a couple race-baiting quotes that were attributed to him and which he claims he never said. Limbaugh conveniently believes they're the entire reason the NFL told him to get lost and frankly, Rush is dismayed:

I never said I supported slavery and I never praised James Earl Ray. How sick would that be?

This would be a great place to indicate that an exhaustive search by the Media Matters team had failed to turn up the quotes that were used to hang Rush (which Frisch now admits in front of a liberal radio audience), but that would mean being honest with its readers, wouldn't it?

And sadly, that's more than can be reasonably expected from partisan smear merchants.

  • There are plenty more than those two!

Besides, the NFL decides who becomes an owner not the other way around.

All this blowhard (Rush Hudson Limbaugh A.KA. Jeff Christie) has to offer is his money and his opinions, (which in my opinion are on the fringes of racism, one mans opinion). There are many more groups biding for the Rams, not just his group. Lets face it there are more men with money (Marshall Faulk) that will gladly fill the slot and the Rams will win or lose depending on how well they work as a team and not on whether or not Rush is an owner.

As for Vick, well he is a player (he has talent not like you, Rush or I, unless you are a NFL player?) and he served his time and the NFL decided we live in the land of second chances, so why not (I personally don’t like it but, oh well). Life has never been fair (NEWS FLASH!)

Now as to the “Free Speech” argument, I guess many of you like myself heard Rush on Thursday “Almost in tears”, priceless. But the last couple of days he now is in his normal ranting and will continue until someone surpasses him, “Free Speech” continues, so what is being stifled, it simply is not true, of course, you may not have a radio, so you might want to get one.

PS – I am sure someone is working to but the tapes together maybe all you subscribers can help, since you are all about getting to the truth?

  • I am sure someone is working to but [sic] the tapes together maybe all you subscribers can help, since you are all about getting to the truth?

The welfare mentality strikes again. Here we see the Leftist troll who expects non-Leftists to do its dirty work for it, and find the non-existent quotes it is too lazy or stupid or incompetent to find on its own.

And I like the unsourced and unsupported assertion that "there are plenty more than those two" . I guess fabricating more than two quotes was just such hard work that they didn't bother to do any more, and so now depend on the gullible marks falling for the same scam a second time. "This time, those quotes really, really do exist! Trust us!"

  • followed to the chasingevil links. Great list of quotes which are either 1) taken out of context (I remember hearing several of them during the campaign), or 2) spot on. Apparently nobody who criticizes Obama is allowed to mention he is black, but supporters are allowed to do it all day long while accusing detractors of being racists. Get over it. Obama is a Socialist with the intent of creating a Euro-socialist community. Our country was founded as an alternative to Euro-socialism and Euro-fascism, not as a 'me-too' society.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 21 October, 2009 21:37

  • If there are "plenty more", then post them. Source them. No-one could in the whole time Rush was angling to be part owner, so what kept you from distributing those quotes far and wide? Were you out of the country? Why are you the only one who knows all these secret quotes, because no-one else was able to find them?

By Blogger In Russet Shadows, at 21 October, 2009 21:38

  • Every liberal that has had to walk back these specific allegations has been in a race to get to the "but".

Paraphrashing: "But there have been plenty of other racist statements."

They are desperate to let everyone know that there is an endless font of support for their thesis. Both Media Matters and commenter Paul make the same claims, and like all others, fail to provide evidence in support. Where are the other quotes? Are they legitimately sourced?

Within context (i.e. excluding self-satire), those quotes don't exist. If they did, they would fill out the talking points rather than the manufactured ones.

  • I wish Rush would sue them.

By Anonymous ladyjane, at 21 October, 2009 22:10

  • Yeah!

Rush is a Uniter not a Divider of the races. there are so many examples, right guys!

By Anonymous Montana, at 21 October, 2009 22:10

  • The jealousy and fear of Rush blinds these idiots to the point that they don't care if he said these things or not!

By Blogger Unknown, at 21 October, 2009 22:55

  • Media Matters, Miller, and Paul - Just the kind of idiots who fall hook line and sinker for an obviously American blogger pretending to be an Iraqi during the Gulf War. Geniuses, I tell you!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 21 October, 2009 23:04

  • Rush is a uniter.

Rev Dr Jerry Wright, not so much.

Or have you libbies forgotten that guy? You have forgotten the Presidents former Spiritual advisor, at the church your President sat in for 20 odd years?

Oh well, we can't let that stand my friends! LOL

By Anonymous Rev Dr E Buzz, at 22 October, 2009 07:06

  • ahh, got it Montana, so, lemme get this straight.

Today, in America, if you are not a uniter of the races then you are, in fact, racists.

    Racism is the new McCarthyism.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 22 October, 2009 08:26

  • The NFL is as close as you will ever see to a legal slave owners association. The players are owned by the teams and can usually expect bodily harm once a week.

I can understand why the NFL would want to avoid anything that resembles racism in their business.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 22 October, 2009 08:48

  • The only other constant besides death and taxes is the refusal of liberals to let facts get in the way of their sophmoric politics.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 22 October, 2009 08:50

  • Paul doesn't get it.

1 There AREN'T 'plenty more than those two.' If there were, why make these two up in the first place? By default, there isn't anything there.

    2) The NFL had nothing to do with the decision. Rush was part of a group in which he would be a minority owner. The group decided to drop Limbaugh because of all the bad press, which, conincedently, was based on lies and made up BS.

    3) Rush can sue for slander. He was denied an opportunity to invest his money the way he wanted, because your side doesn't like him, so you made up a bunch of bogus quotes. That's the travesty here, and that's what you don't get. You're so blind by bigotry and hate that you fail to realize that this example hurts us as a nation. A free man was denied rights based on lies.

    4) Spare me the second chance BS. Rush has lost over 80 pounds and has made a full recovery from his addiction- one of the hardest addictions to overcome. If you believed in second chances, you wouldn't keep raging on him. Turns out, like most whinny liberals, you're just another hypocrite in a long line of hypocrites.

    GO get em Rush!!

  • Paul - NAME ONE and source it.

By Anonymous Carol, at 22 October, 2009 09:13

  • The progressive Left always tells you "there's plenty more where that came from" regarding alleged Limbaugh "racist" quotes, but they never seem to produce them, do they?

    Curious, that.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 22 October, 2009 09:16

  • Hey Paul,

I looked at all the quotes in the link you posted and not one of them is racist. I would have said as much on "Rev. Jim's" website but that coward doesn't allow commenters to challenge him.

    By Blogger Bill C, at 22 October, 2009 09:23

  • Wrecking Ball: As per your #3: Rush can certainly sue, but not for slander, IMO, but for "tortious interference."

    http://www.lectlaw.com/def2/t061.htm

He can easily make the case that by disseminating those slanderous statements his legitimate business interests were compromised

By Blogger Unknown, at 22 October, 2009 10:34

  • Mark Steyn brought up something to Rush a week ago that I found interesting and hope he does. Steyn said in the UK the libel/slander laws are much more lenient than here in the US. Since many of these lies were repeated ad naseum by CNN & CNN is broadcast in the UK Rush can sue in their courts and have an excellent chance of winning. I hope he sues the he-- out of CNN & anyone else who repeated these lies and cost him the chance to own an NFL team. I don't think liberal douchebags thought about that one did you?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 22 October, 2009 11:19

  • And the other 28 comments researched and sourced by Media Matters? Why to focus on 2, while ignoring all those?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 22 October, 2009 11:47

  • Rush Hudson Limbaugh A.KA. Jeff Christie

What in the name of God does that have to do with anything? Are we supposed to be impressed you know his full name? or are we supposed to be even more impressed you knew his onair name when he was a DJ for KQV in Pittsburgh in the '70s?

Because I knew both, without having to look them up, and I'm incredibly lazy....

By Anonymous TomB, at 22 October, 2009 12:06

  • The left are the only racists here.

I hope Rush sues the pants off of them for slander and defamation of character. I hope they serve jail time, as a lesson to all the other leftists out there lying profusely, and spewing liberal vomit. It is time for the leftists to burn the Saul Alinsky playbook and stop seeking to destroy those with dissenting opinions. Free speech does not entitle one to commit slander and libel.

In a free market, he has the right to spend his money as he pleases. But the leftist communists want to control everything and everyone. It is time they are stopped. If they don't like the free market, they can move to Cuba. i'll help them pack and even drive them to the airport.

  • Rush will not sue. He will be deposed if he does and like Nixon he knows that the tapes will sink him. poor little Rush, no out except creating the myth that everyone is out to get him. Sorry sucka you can only yourself to blame for your idiot comments. NFL wins you lose. Tee, hee....

By Anonymous Montana, at 22 October, 2009 14:39

  • Montana? If he filed the lawsuit as I believe he should--as a 'tortious interference' proceeding--HE doesn't need to take the stand himself to make his case, so the only way he can be deposed is if the defense called him as a witness.

Hell, he doesn't even have to appear in the courtroom. He sends his corporate accountants, publicists and business managers in and THEY make the case, testifying that the defendants' actions recklessly--by spreading provably false information--interfered in the business relationship of 'Rush Limbaugh, Inc.', and the group of investors Dave Checketts was organizing in pursuit of purchasing the St. Louis Rams.

The defense would have to show cause why Limbaugh's testimony would be relevant to their refutation of the plaintiff's charges, and I'm pretty sure there is no way they would be able to convince a judge to issue a subpoena and force a deposition in such a circumstance.

It wouldn't matter, really, what other things Limbaugh may or may not have said in previous circumstances, and would likely be deemed inadmissable.

By Blogger Unknown, at 22 October, 2009 18:27

  • Rush should buy the Redskins and emulate George Preston Marshall just to bust Obama.

By Blogger Unknown, at 23 October, 2009 00:07

  • To "anonymous" who wants discussion about the "other" quotes:

How about "Latching onto L.A. Times op-ed, Limbaugh sings "Barack, The Magic Negro""

Over 12 minutes of audio is cited, at no point does Rush sing anything, let alone "Barack, the Magic Negro".

Another "impressive" citation by Media Matters that falls apart on actual inspection, from the group that once claimed that 2003 and 2004 were part of the 20th century in an attempt to make some global warming point.

By Blogger Chromium, at 23 October, 2009 08:45

  • Not only are Liberals uninformed, disturbed & unhinged, they are also violent & illiterate (see posts #24 through #28). Padded cells & straight-jackets were invented for Liberals. Why do Liberals really love big government? Big government funds mental health care which they so desperately need.
